Chrismont
Chrismont has gone through a massive metamorphous at its winery cellar door. From a tasting room that was once practicable but very vanilla under the family home, to something that is now spectacular!
The new tasting room sits further up the hill and reaps the benefits of altitude with glorious views up the King Valley. Within the new building a large stone fireplace separates the wonderful restaurant that is not only a welcome addition to Chrismont but will also enhance the region and its reputation for being a wine and food lovers destination.
A balcony with seating runs the full length at the front. and this is where we grab a table and order a bread platter, a cheese platter and an antipasto platter. It’s perfect for sharing with our group as we sit underneath the shade blinds that roll out from the building.
On this joyous day (it is always a joy to visit a winery with friends) before the food arrives we head for a wine tasting and begin with a snazzy Prosecco that awakens our palates. We bring back a couple of glasses of the Pinot Grigio for the girls while the boys can’t go past the Barbera.
The wines, the food, the company, the modern surrounds and that view, shows you don’t have to be wealthy to live a rich life.

We had a great tasting with Jo – who was very passionate and knowledgeable about her wines. Cellar door is nothing exciting to speak of but they have a huge development going on which is due to be completed late 2015 and will make this one amazing place to visit. Wines were definitely worth the visit anyway to the head of the King Valley
